Altitude Medical Partnering with Cleenol Group Ltd

18.10.2017

Altitude Medical Inc., a startup healthcare device company, will partner with Cleenol Group Ltd to distribute their products in the UK. The innovative PullClean handle features a sanitiser dispenser that allows users to sanitise their hands as they enter a room. The device also features powerful electronics that allow health professionals to track rates of hand sanitisation.

The PullClean handle has been recognised for its clever design and potential for huge social impact and has been featured in Wired.com, Business Insider and Fast Company magazine. It has also been nominated for a host of prestigious awards including the Index Prize and the ‘Better by Design’ awards.

The idea behind the PullClean door handle was conceived by Dr. Alex Oshmyansky who, while working as a junior doctor at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, was frustrated by unsuccessful approaches to encourage and monitor hand hygiene in the healthcare setting.

For years, hospitals have been trying to encourage hand sanitisation to combat lethal and costly infections that are spread between patients, visitors and staff. Infections acquired within hospitals kill thousands of people each year in the NHS, with are responsible for billions of pounds in costs. The product is installed in many hospitals, GP surgeries, care homes, hotels and restaurants across the United States, but it is new to the UK.

Jake McKnight, co-inventor of the breakthrough device said, ‘PullClean makes hand hygiene easier for busy staff across a wide range of industrie. With Cleenol’s help, we can increase hand hygiene and drive down unnecessary, expensive and harmful infections.’

While the background of the company is in healthcare, the applications are widespread and include public and workplace bathrooms, food processing and food service facilities, hotels, restaurants, schools and care homes where it will make hand hygiene more accessible.
