No slips ups with Nova Long Life


Perfect for waxed flooring or polished linoleum, Nova Long Life brings up an excellent shine at work and at home. 


All our products meet health and safety regulations and must be anti-slip. We therefore recently put Nova Long Life’s slip potential to the test.


The Pendulum Test Value (PTV) method is based on a swinging, imitation heel (using a standardised rubber soling sample), which sweeps over a set area of flooring in a controlled manner.


The slipperiness of the flooring has a direct and measurable effect on the score given. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) publication ‘Assessing the slip resistance of flooring’ ranks the PTV slip potential of products using the following scoring:




High slip potential

0 – 24

Moderate slip potential

25 – 35

Low slip potential

36 +


We tested Nova Long Life using an updated machine called SlipAlert. SlipAlert has been tested and recognised by the HSE as a 'good indication of available friction, lending itself to risk assessment, monitoring of floor surfaces and evaluating & monitoring cleaning regimes.' (HSL Evaluation of the Kirchberg Rolling Slider and SlipAlert Slip Resistance Meters).


All SlipAlert readings are converted into the same slip potential PTV measurement that the Pendulum Test uses, ensuring a consistent outcome. 


The fantastic news is that Nova Long Life scored a PTV of 55 giving it a very low slip potential.
